Dig This Video: How to Tour Pueblo Country

In time for summer vacation, the non-profit Crow Canyon Archaeological Center has released a video that's long overdue -- an explanation of how modern Pueblo people view the ancestral sites that are now tourist destinations.

What are now the Four Corners' major national parks and monuments were once the homes, centers of worship, and often, final resting places of the Ancestral Pueblo.

So by extension, I've heard it said, the burial sites may be thought of no differently than Arlington National Cemetery. The kivas, St. John the Divine. The artifacts -- sherds of pottery, scatterings in granaries, points and flakes -- the traces of how fellow humans lived and died.
